Common Alpha Team Procedures
Entering Procedure: “Ready to Learn”
As you enter our rooms, please be prepared and ready to learn. We’re only together a short time each day and I want to make productive use of each and every minute. You need to be ready to learn and I’ll be ready to teach!
Quiet Sign: “Alpha Attention, please.”
There are times when the classroom noise level will become louder than it should be. Please listen for myself and the other Alpha teachers to use the statement, “Alpha Attention, please.” When you hear this, you should immediately go to a zero voice level, put your eyes on the teacher, and refocus on the current objective.
Going to the Bathroom
We understand that there is a limited time between classes, but we encourage students to try to make use of this time and use the restroom during this break. We will allow bathroom breaks during class if the student has his or her agenda to use as a bathroom pass. You will need to fill out your agenda with the code, date, and time. Please wait until the teacher isn’t teaching to ask to use the restroom.
This year we will be using Potty Passes. Each student will receive 5 Potty Passes at the begging of the 9 weeks. Every time a student leaves class to go to the bathroom, he or she needs to turn in a Potty Pass. Any student with remaining Potty Passes at the end of the 9 weeks may enter them for a drawing at the end of the 9 week. We're hoping that this will encourage students to go to the bathroom during the class changes and not missing critical teaching time.
Missing Work
Students will have one week after the initial turn in date to turn work in. Any work received after the initial turn in date may receive a late penalty of up to 25% off. Any work turned in after one week will receive a zero in the grade book.
If You’re Absent
An absent sheet will be filled out for you, explaining what we did in class, what the assignment was (if any), and the date due. You have three days from the date of your return to complete the assignment. In my class, it will be your responsibility to look in the absent tray for your class period and get your work.
